Misunderstanding

Why interpret as cultural difference what is in reality a failure of communication?

Work becomes more difficult as a) inter-disciplinary, b) inter-lingual and c) inter-personal sources of misunderstanding become more prevalent.

A) is only minimally addressed by the Bologna process, and whereas B) is often cited as the most obvious one, attempts at addressing it (e.g. Globish) have been found wanting. C) represents a bigger obstacle in the creation of “Virtual teams”

A range of examples from case studies will be presented

A number of metrics and indicators to enable rapid identification of early warning signs in cross-border projects are given.
